The development of the SDGToolkit is a continuous process of updating and innovation leading to additional analytical tools (ATs) based on feedback from stakeholders including field extension agents and project teams who provide insights as to how existing analytical tools (ATs) can be improved as well as our own reviews to prioritize how to close any gaps in provisions.

How many ATs are planned?

So far around 60 ATs have been produced and there are around 200 identified which will be added over time. This high number is a reflection of the number of specific analyses associated with the cross-sectoral nature of SDGs and the fact that SDGs are trans-sectoral in the sense they are not sector-based. This more realistic approach is in reality more complex and demands more analytical tools to help teams separate the essential tasks from the less relevant. This process helps expand the scope of SDGToolkit ATs to cover an increasing number of sectors in a professionally competent manner.

As requirements appear, we reviewed these in terms of their relevance to improving quality standards recommendations with the OQSI (Open Quality Standards Initiative) and when the professional requirements are specified we design and implement new ATs to be added to the SDGToolkit collection.

Updating and releasing new ATs

A large number of proposals centre around the refinement of the OQSI critical path for design optimization illustrated on the left. This is because too many existing recommendations and standards established by a range of organizations are difficult to implement in practical terms because little guidance is provided with respect to where the sources of data are, if they exist, and no analytical tools exist to use the data.

At SDGToolkit we are committed to providing practical and viable solutions to reduce income disparity, raise production sustainability and slow down rises in global temperatures by reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions. Sometimes our ATs addressing these issues are "crude" but they solve the problem up until the point we can introduce better ATs.

Retreads - ATs undergoing refinement/adjustment

Current ATs remain in operation until modified ATs are released. All ATs are designed to not require modifications in current data in Project Memory1

OBA-1Cost-benefit analysis; introducing locational-state genotypic sequencing to ensure more realistic projectionsIn progress
OBA-2Real incomes generation; Framing "living income" estimates into more objective evidence-basis to remove unrealistic CPI corrections that underestimate real inflation. In progress
1  Project Memory is a database configuration that integrates immutable Accumulog data and a Real Time segment data generated during simulations of options before selecting those considered to be of value.

New ATs - Leading edge introductions

All new ATs are designed to not require modifications in current data in Project Memory1 but as from the date of introduction they will usually expand the data set in use

PCP-04Proof of Concept Prototype (PCP) expanded carrying capacity estimator to improve OBA-4. Basic concept is to be able to project design carrying capacity to surrounding areas for activities to estimate quantitative impacts resulting from aggregation e.g. project -> region -> national impacts. In progress
PCP-02PCP real incomes generation to refine adjustment for actual inflation to secure more precise determination of realistic living income estimateIn progress
GEX-1Group extension of the commodity balance sheet series across most commodity groups of food, fibre and feedstocksIn progress
GEX-2Group extension of the crop gross margin estimators to add closed system peri urban hydroponic-type production systems to rain fed, protected, irrigated and clearance & cultivation classes. In progress
PCP-XXData Reference Models (DRMs) have been used widely since 2014. During evaluations stakeholders have used simple DRMs to explain requests for new ATs.
This proof of concept prototyping exercise is to produce a convenient online version to support user feedback and speed up technical service understanding and development response.
